Division Chief Kevin Nelmes is a certified Florida Firefighter/Paramedic currently assigned to the Professional Development Section as a Division Chief of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the Training/Special Operations Division(s) for the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District – located in Naples, Florida. Kevin has devoted himself 100% to the Education and Life Safety of the residents and visitors of the Naples Community for the past 20 years. He has extensive experience in the fire service, emergency medical services (EMS), including Wildland Firefighting and Emergency Response to Natural Disasters around the world. His recent activities include deployment to the Florida Panhandle in support of Hurricane Michael victims (October, 2018) and Hurricane Irma (September, 2017). Kevin also serves as a member of Special Operations supporting many of Florida’s State Response Teams in fire operations, task force leadership, Hazardous Materials Technician-HAZMAT, Maritime Emergency Response Team (MERT), and most recently appointed to Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Region 6 Regional Domestic Security Task Force (RDSTF) Communications Focus Group.
Kevin is also an Adjunct Professor for Hodges University – Paramedic Program; Florida Southwestern College (FSW) Fire/EMS Programs; Training Center Faculty (TCF) for Physicians Regional Healthcare System; and Landmark Hospital Education Department – Medical Emergency Team (MET). His primary audience for instruction include healthcare professionals such as first responders, law enforcement, military personnel, allied healthcare professionals, and children with developmental disabilities. Kevin also provides Advanced Levels of Instruction to Medical Doctors (MDs), Advanced Registered Nurse Practioners (ARNPs), and Physicians Assistants (PAs).
Kevin is a frequent speaker for many Faith-based support groups, Women’s Shelter, Christian Missionaries, Anti-Human Trafficking groups, and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Teams. Kevin has a passion for helping others in need, regardless of location. He lives in Naples, Florida, loves the beach and ocean, is interested in rock music, photography, training working dogs, woodworking, and is trying to learn how to paint better.
