Chief Schuldt has been active in fire rescue services since 1978, originally serving as a volunteer firefighter and ambulance paramedic in Central New York. He began his service in Florida in 1982 with the Plantation Volunteer Fire Department where he maintains a life-membership to this day. Chief Schuldt has worked as a career fire service professional in Florida since 1983.

Chief Schuldt completed his tenure with the City of Sunrise Fire Rescue Department in 2000. There, he held a variety of positions including company officer with special operations, shift and administrative battalion chief, operations chief and acting fire chief. Chief Schuldt also served as Deputy Chief with the City of Tamarac Fire Rescue Department and Administration and Finance Officer with the City of Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department between 2000 and 2010.

Chief Schuldt became a member of the East Naples Fire Control and Rescue District in 2010 where he served as Deputy Chief of Operations, Assistant Chief, and in 2012 was appointed as Fire Chief. In 2013, he simultaneously served as Fire Chief of the Golden Gate Fire Control and Rescue District until establishment of the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District on November 4, 2014. He has additionally served as an adjunct faculty member with the Broward College’s Fire Science Program, Instructor with the Broward Fire Academy, Technical Consultant to the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and Subject Matter Expert instructor with the National Institute for Storage Tank Management.

Chief Schuldt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Barry University and an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science Technology from Broward College. He holds Florida Fire Service Instructor and Fire Officer certifications, and is licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician. Chief Schuldt has extensive experience in emergency management, and disaster preparedness and response. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Weldon Center for Public Service Senior Executive Program and the Florida Fire and Emergency Services Foundation ESLI program. Chief Schuldt holds the Chief Fire Officer designation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.

Chief Schuldt currently serves as President with the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, Chair of the Florida Fire Sprinkler Coalition, a member of the Florida Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council, and Chair of the DoH EMS Advisory Council Disaster Response Committee. He has served in a number of other leadership positions including President of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association, Vice-Chair of the Florida Statewide Emergency Response Committee (SERC), and Technical Advisor for the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ Intrastate Mutual Aid System (IMAS) committee.

Chief Schuldt is committed to the Greater Naples community and serves on a number of civic groups including the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Golden Gate Civic Association.  He is an Advisory Board member with the “A Safe Haven for Newborns” for the placement of unwanted newborns throughout Florida, and supporter of the Broward College Foundation and Jack and Jill Children’s Center of Fort Lauderdale.
