Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to equal access for all users
Our Commitment
The Greater Naples Fire Rescue District is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to all members of the public, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to meet the standards established by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as referenced in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is an ongoing responsibility. As a public agency, we serve every resident and visitor of the East Naples, Golden Gate, Isles of Capri, and Collier County District 1 communities, and we want our digital presence to reflect that same spirit of service.
Conformance Status
Target Standard
This site is currently working toward full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We conduct periodic reviews of our pages and address issues as they are identified. Some legacy content and third-party embedded materials may not yet fully meet these standards — we are actively working to remediate these areas.
What We Are Doing
Our ongoing accessibility efforts include:
- Writing meaningful, descriptive alternative text for images throughout the site
- Using proper heading structure to support screen reader navigation
- Ensuring all form fields have clearly associated labels
- Maintaining sufficient color contrast ratios for body text and interactive elements
- Designing all navigation and interactive components to be fully operable by keyboard alone
- Providing a skip-to-content link at the top of every page
- Encoding documents and PDFs with accessibility features where possible
- Reviewing new content additions for accessibility before publication
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some content on this site may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria. Areas we are currently addressing include:
- Older PDF documents in our resource library that predate our accessibility review process
- Certain third-party embedded content such as maps and survey tools, which are subject to the accessibility standards of their respective providers
If you encounter a barrier, please let us know — your feedback is the most direct way for us to identify and fix issues.
