Associate Medical Director
Dr. Scott Dunavant
Dr. Dunavant is a residency trained, board certified specialist in emergency medicine with 30 years’ experience as a provider and Faculty in both Level 1 trauma and community hospital settings. He has prior EMS medical director serving with city/county EMS advisory boards.
Dr. Dunavant was involved with helicopter transport as an onboard aeromedical physician for 8 years, and later as an instructor and administrator. He later served with international, medical NGOs to Guatemala and Bahrain as well as multiple deployments to the US-Mexico border, Iraq and Ukraine.
Dr. Dunavant has spoken at UN European Headquarters in Copenhagen regarding his experience in trauma care in Ukraine and taught U.S. Special Operators in small groups and at international conferences.
And now, with the last of their wonderful kids away at college, Dr. Dunavant’s goals are to proudly represent the GNFR district, its needs, and especially its personnel. And as always, to help the crews be appropriately confident in emergencies and “to be comfortable in uncomfortable settings.”
