Before joining the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District, Assistant Chief Mark Stirns served with Bonita Springs Fire Control & Rescue District for 24 years, where he developed a solid foundation in fire suppression, emergency response, and leadership. He began his career with East Naples Fire in September 2012, which later merged into Greater Naples Fire Rescue District. In November 2017, he was promoted to Driver/Engineer and ultimately was appointed to Assistant Chief in April 2024.
In his current role, Assistant Chief Stirns oversees Support Services which includes the Fleet and Logistics Divisions, ensuring that the District’s apparatus, equipment, and logistical operations meet the highest standards of efficiency and readiness. His strong background in mechanical systems and fire apparatus maintenance plays a key role in ensuring that the District’s equipment operates at peak performance. He holds an Associate’s Degree and is certified as a Fire Instructor I/II.
In addition to his work with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District, Assistant Chief Stirns serves as a Fire Commissioner for San Carlos Park, actively contributing to the safety and well-being of his community.
Dedicated to firefighter safety, professional development, and community outreach, Assistant Chief Stirns strives to foster excellence at every level. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and son, often exploring the outdoors or relaxing with a fishing trip.
